Is PayPal a FinTech?
Is PayPal a FinTech? Do we define PayPal.com as a FinTech company? In fact many people consider PayPal a pioneer of the FinTech world!
Well, according to their own website we can get the definition of how PayPal sees themselves:
“Who We Are
PayPal has remained at the forefront of the digital payment revolution for more than 20 years. By leveraging technology to make financial services and commerce more convenient, affordable and secure, the PayPal platform is empowering people and businesses to join and thrive in the global economy.”
Moreover, PayPal now wants to invest in the future FinTech companies of tomorrow.
In the last few years PayPal has entered the Venture Capital space. They have started their own Venture Capital division. Not surprising when even Real Estate firms like Silverstein Properties have their own VC divisions.
On PayPal’s site they say about their VC division:
“PayPal Ventures is the global corporate venture arm of PayPal. We invest for financial return, in companies at the forefront of innovation in fintech, commerce enablement, digital infrastructure, and crypto/blockchain technologies.
Through the expertise, experience, and vast network of PayPal Ventures – and the companies we invest in – we are helping to bring transformative solutions to market faster.”
