FinTech & Quantum Computing? Does quantum computing have a future?

Quantum computing is a new kind of machine for calculations.

Relies on quantum-mechanical phenomena, including superposition and entanglement. As for quantum superposition, any two(or more) quantum states can be added together and form another valid quantum state in the end. At the same time, each quantum state can be represented as a sum of two or more other distinct states. As for the quantum logical qubit state used for quantum information processing, it is a quantum superposition of the ‘basis states’ between 1 and 0. When converted to classical logic by a measurement, it is 0. At the same time, 1 is the state that will always convert to 1.

Theoretically, large-scale quantum computing is a much faster speed of solving problems compared to classical computers. It is executable on a small number of quantum bits. IBM Quantum Experience is a small 20 qubit quantum computer and open to the public.

People have been using neural network algorithms to work perfectly with quantums. As scientists know, classification models can process a single quantum to process a single line. It is still in the early stage of development. Quantum artificial neural network model is testing the water.

Some researchers have proposed a model for perceptrons implemented on near-term quantum processing devices. It successfully worked on a 5-qubits IBM quantum computer based on superconducting technology. Compared to traditional computers, quantum machines are able to work with encoding quantum states instead of exact ones. So it has a potential to scale faster than other classical algorithms for a perceptron model. The potential future development of neural networks is to connect multiple layers of quantum perceptrons for building a feedforward deep neural network. It has a possibility to fully run on quantum hardware. Lastly, it is exciting to understand that artificial intelligence models can work well on quantum machines. In conclusion, quantum machine is able to scale neural networks in a much larger way.
