Once, simply a feeder area for ski resorts, this town now has some serious fintech swagger!
If you look on Linkedin you will find about 400 or so jobs listed under fintech in the Salt Lake City area.
Yes, this is still far fewer than Miami at 4,000 jobs or New York City at 8,000+ jobs, but its still respectable. Moreover, there are a number of closely related industries. Such as digital marketing and graphic design. Which have sprung up in the Salt Lake City area.
Of course, we worry about the great Salt Lake which is evaporating according to a recent New York Times piece, which might give some of us pause for concern?
According to the article, “Climate change and rapid population growth are shrinking the lake, creating a bowl of toxic dust that could poison the air around Salt Lake City.”
That doesn’t sound like fun, so maybe keep that on the radar. And rent instead of buying a home. So you aren’t as firmly rooted, if your wife or husband wants to up and leave one day?
